Removing Cetol from gel-coat
Date: September 27, 2000
From: Nancy Armitage nanter@nbnet.nb.caWhile refinishing the inside of our E42 we have found varnish on the headliner and on the galley cupboards. There is a fair amount of Cetol that has been splattered on the deck as well. No doubt to poor applications.
Is there a product that will take varnish and Cetol off of these areas without causing damage? Any help would be appreciated.

From: Michael King MEK0117@aol.comI have the same problem on my E37. Not to the extent of what it sounds like Nancy has, but I'd still like to know how to remove it. I'd appreciate a "CC" also.

From: Don Kirkwood don_kirkwood@dynastart.comPaint remover seems to work well at removing Cetol BUT BEWARE use one that is friendly toward fiberglass otherwise you'll remove it as well. Only boating stores carry this kind as far as I know. (I forget the brand name.) Also you may want to test it on a disposable part of the headliner before using it there as headliner is a different plastic from fiberglass.
