I replaced mine several years ago. The original wound up on the floor of the Chesapeake Bay along with 90
percent of my original centerboard.

I used 80 feet of halyard cable...I think 3/16ths. It swages on the upper (training???) edge of the cB. I made my new CB out of steel and had a hole drilled 3/4 inch in and slightly wider than the cable. I have no idea if this is the 'proper' way it is done, but its been working great so far.

Cheers

I replaced mine this past spring I seem to remember it took a bit under 25 feet of 3/16th 7X9 cable, mine is connected to a nylon tail. However if you cut it off at the trailing edge of the center board and tape a pull wire to it to use to pull the new one back in(paralell them and tape securely with electrical or duct tape but not too fat) you can measure the exact length of the old cable.

Happy New Year: A while back I posted a question about the centerboard cable connection on a 76 e-32. I have since pulled the boat and changed the cable and took a picture which I am sending along in case someone else is interested.
