From: Fred Lowe frederick.h.lowe1@jsc.nasa.govI own a1988 E-42 with rod rigging .Has anyone had any luck with the problem of the rigging humming in a stiff breeze.I have tried just about everything I know short of wrapping it with something. If you have any suggestion please let me know. Thanks.

From: Lee and Carol Elwell leeelwell@aol.comWe own a 1989 E-42 and also have the same harmonic problem with our rod rigging. 'we have tried everything from loosening and tightening the rigging and also having experts tune the rigging, to no avail. We too would like to know if anyone has the answer!

From: Donna Cass bacchus42@earthlink.netHi guys, We have a 1986 E-42 with wire rigging, and we have the same problem with the "moaning" sound, from the backstay, in higher wind ranges. You can almost tell the windspeed from the sound. We haven't done this yet, but we were told that by tightening or loosening the stay segment just a little, the change in tension can dampen the harmonic. You may also try wrapping tape around an area of the stay a few inches below any nodal point, which may dampen the vibration.
