Boat History:
Purchased new in 1983 by a couple who just retired. They lived winters in Florida and summered in Maine. The boat sailed to Nassau and the Bahamas, up and down the east coast numerous times and up to Nova Scotia a couple of times. I purchased the boat from the owner last year when he was 72 years young and felt he just could not sail any longer.

Experience:
I have sailed the coast of Maine for about the past 15 years. I have sailed Cal 25s, Catalina 27s, Hunter 33 and 34s, and now the Endeavour 40.

Boat Review/Upgrades:
I have only had one season sailing this boat, but so far I have been very pleased. She is fairly stiff in a moderate breeze. I have carried full sail in 20-22 kts of wind using a 135% jenny although this is the point to seriously start to think of reefing. With a good autopilot she can be sailed by one person, but I have not experienced any severe conditions so I would reserve judgement on this point. Maintenance can be difficult because the boat is of modular construction. By this I mean the boat appears to have been made by pouring the hull and then built from the hull up with an interior liner. You cannot inspect the
chainplates because they are covered. To replace either the water or fuel tank you must either dismantle the engine room and cabin or cut into the keel. Above and below the boat is well constructed and laid out except for the previous modular feature. Overall I am very pleased with the boat.
