Boat Review:
We enjoy the layout and room of our E-38. It sails reasonable fast in moderate winds 18-22 knots (broad reach at 7-1/2 knots with jib and main is fairly common). It takes 10 knots of wind to get it going and reefing isn't an issue until winds are 25 knots +. I installed a removable inner staysail for very heavy weather with running backstays. We also use the running backstays as a handy man overboard recovery system to raise the victum up over the lifelines. We are planning to replace the hatchs and ports with Lewmar's. We also will be replacing our roller furler (old streamstay unit), probably with a Proful model. Overall we are happy with our boat and plan to do extensive cruising with her. I would be interested in finding out how the boat handles in serious offshore use.
