Boat History:

Experience:
Learned to ail with dingies in the UK and got into Hobbie Cats here in the states. Have a commercial seagoing back ground so the seamanship aspects associated with a bigger boat were not as daunting as they could be for a beginner.

Boat Review/Upgrades:
A fantastic getaway with the family with enough room and amenities for two adult and three small kids to clomp around in for a weeks vacation. Terrible wheel effect when going astern makes it necessary to wharp the boat out of my slip to get it pointing the right way! I think the prop in worn. Currently looking into replacing some of the Beckson Ports as I have discovered how desperately important it is to keep the boat as dry as possible when not in use. Mildew!!! Added a bimini just after we bought the boat. This meant that I had to raise the boom about 6 inches. The mainsail head becomes hard up at the mast head when raised and really needs modification. There is nothing particularly bad about the design. It is I think a Bay Boat. Would love to know how they behave in agusting winds at sea. I have not had any significant expense due to unforseen failures or breakdowns. No complaints there. Would like to add a reef point in the main and also get a smaller genoa so that I keep more control options in stiffer winds. She is simply rigged and therein lies some frustration. I sure could use additional cleats on the boom for reefing and securing the topping wire.
