1979 Endeavour 32

Name: Bob & Sandy Warren rwarren@inna.net
Boat Name: Intrigue
Year: 1979
Size: 32' sloop
Date Purchased: 1997

Boat History:
Boat formerly owned by Don Ruthig and sailed out of Baltimore, MD. He believes he was the third owner.

Experience:
My wife and I have owned a Flying Scot (still do) over twenty years and raced it actively twice a week in Wisconsin before moving to Virginia two years ago. Cruising experience has been limited to chartering in the BVI for a week, and a couple of five-day sails on the Chesapeake. We've taken a couple of overnighters with the Endeavour, and frequently sail across the bay and back (about 15 mi. each way). We were not used to, and don't like to, motor but have learned that it is necessary in light air if you want to get anywhere. We've sailed in winds up to 25 kt. with working jib and double-reefed main. We felt safe but the boat had a lot of weather helm.

Boat Review/Upgrades:
Thus far we very much like our boat. This first season has involved getting used to her and learning of what she, and we, are capable. Our experience has been with a working jib, so the genoa is a new thing for us. One problem we have had is starting the engine while sailing and making way (3+knots). The engine will often not pull seawater at these speeds. We've learned to luff the boat until it is nearly stopped before starting the engine.
