Endeavour 32 Floors
Date: September 16, 1999
From: Chris Berry berrycook@primary.netWe (just) put in new carpeting (somehow we aren't blessed with the teak and holly that I've read was supposed to be the standard issue sole) that is a trendy new gold sisal look.
Does anyone else NOT have the wood soles?

From: Paul Uhl endvr32@endeavourowners.comI'm personally not aware that Endeavour didn't supply a teak floor in the E32, or for that matter that they supplied a teak and holly version. Our 1982 E32 has the parquet teak floor which I thought was the only option available. However, I believe I've heard some E32 owners metntion that they've replaced their parquet with teak and holly.
If anyone has any insight into this, please let us know.

I have Destiny a 1978 E32. She has a white (fiberglass??) floor. The floor is covered with carpeting. The carpeting has been replaced so I do not know what the original cover was. The white under the carpeting looks very original. I was unaware that wood floors were an option!

From: William Gillette William.Gillette@med.va.govMy E32 has aftermarket carpeting; no signs of ever having teak in any form. It's a '79 model.

From: Randy Pickelmann RWP48@aol.comPaul, I'm pretty certain that all the E 32's came standard with teak parquet soles. HOWEVER, I chartered on one in the Abacos many years ago that had a fiberglass sole...not a bad choice for a charter boat in the land of sun and sand. My guess is that it was specified by the charter company...they had several.

From: Dave & Carol Wright Dgw1@aol.comPaul, KON-TIKI (1977-E32) did not have the teak and holly or the parquet. It had a fiberglass sole to which we fitted carpet.

My 1976 E-32 (#157) has fiberglas floors with a couple of (maybe teak) access covers in the center. The covers were "squeeky" so I screwed them down. No pretty teak or holly floors. We have carpet on the floor. The fiberglass isn't pretty and it is cold in cooler weather.

Our 79 does not have wood floors. My friend has an 80 that does have wood floors. Our 79 has vertical room above the internal ballast for batteries, his does not. I don't know if they lowered the floor or he has more ballast.

From: Paul Uhl endvr32@endeavourowners.comHere's an update on all the floor discussion. The E32 basically had 2 design periods. In the earlier period (1976-1979) the E32 came with a fiberglass floor. Later in its history, Bob Johnson (of Island Packet fame) updated the E32 and beginning in 1979 or 1980 the keel/centerboard model was discontinued in favor of the shoal keel version. Among the modifications were a different coach roof line, port configuration, and a teak "parquet" cabin sole.
