I have started racing my End 40, sloop once in a while in a club I belong to. They cn't seem to find the handicap rating for my boat. If anyone knows the proper hcp let me know. At present I am given an est. hcp of 80. Thanks Ferdy Sant

Boy, are they tough on you! I have attached a copy of our race results in case you need to show it to them in writing. I have also (on the boat) a copy of PHRF rating from the Gulf Yachting Assn. Offshore Racing committee. If you need a copy of it, let me know & I will get it next time I'm on the boat & send it to you.

I just registered my E33 with the West Florida PHRF and they assigned me a handicap of 162 + 6 = 168. The extra 6 seconds was for having a 3 blade non-folding prop. I asked that they register me in the Non-Spinnaker Class so my rating might be a bit higher than if I had a spinnaker. I filled out an application where they asked for the measurements of the sails, displacement, keel weight, fore-sail size, etc. etc. and about a week later (and $25) I got my PHRF rating. If someone would want to know their rating, I'm sure they would let you register down here. I'll have to give them $25 each year to stay current and race along the Gulf Coast, but anyone outside of this area might want to spend the $25 on time just to get a calculated rating.

IF your rating is an 80 in PHRF... you're screwed! I have a Melges 24 also and it's rated an 87. I can assure you that the M24 is TONS faster!!! The E42 that I own is rated 168.... and we have NEVER been able to sail to that number. My guess is that the E40 should be rated in the high 100's to low 200's.

I have raced my 1979 endvr-43 ketch in the ragatta-del-sol-del-sol, st.pete to isla mujeres mx.a few times. we were given a hndcap of 156. this is for a ketch, with a 150% genoa. we raced in the crusing div no spinaker. We finished all the races we were in, usually in the back of the pack, but we did finish. Great memories of all the races. My crew (my two sons and daughter's then boyfriend), contributed to the one and only victory for the racers v the locals in the annual basketball game. I coached!!. Keep the pointy end forward and the heavy part down.
