OVERVIEW

51’ sailing sloop blue water cruiser ready to set sail. Very comfortable (more than 6-1/2 feet headroom) sailing yacht. We’ve spent the past three years re-fitting with a 100 horse power Yanmar turbo diesel engine, new electrical and the latest and greatest modern electronic navigational equipment. A more complete list of the extensive upgrades is below.

This 1989 Endeavour was built with a strong, thick hull. She draws just 5'10” with a displacement of 37,500 pounds. A stable and fast cruiser with a great layout. The galley is large, there are two heads, and three cabins. Aft helm under the large solar arch plus a center cockpit. Forward and aft cabins each have queen-sized beds. The mid-cabin has two berths in bunk beds. Gear storage and thought-out comforts for cruising are plentiful.

Solid davit system easily lifts the 11’ Avon hypalon RIB dinghy with a 20 h.p. Yamaha outboard. Great set of sails. This sailboat is set up to island hop or cross oceans. Make your own water and power and live comfortably on the (88 pound Rocna) hook.

Some upgrades from the past 3 years

  • Electric System Re-Wire
We pulled old wires out, ran new wires for 12volt DC and 120volt AC, expanded the breakers, properly fused electronics, added a galvanic isolator and built a new house batter box with two house battery banks and four new 8d gel batteries.
  • Solar and Wind Power
There are three solar panels and a wind turbine providing a steady supply of electricity to keep the batteries charged even when you’re anchored next to a secluded beach.
  • Remanufactured Engine Installed
We bought a remanufactured Yanmar 100 horse power turbo diesel engine and transmission from a Yanmar certified mechanic and dealer.  We sized the prop, engine and gear box for maximum efficiency. This engine rocks! Starts up right away every time. Power when we need it. So happy to have this important safety feature. And the speed is amazing!
  • New Exhaust System
A new custom 10 gallon vernalift muffler was installed with new exhaust hose
  • Plumbing Overhaul
The main water tank (about 170 gallons) was pressure washed and thoroughly cleaned. Plumbing to the kitchen and sinks was replaced. Many if not all hoses throughout the boat were replaced. New stainless hose clamps applied. Great to get the old out and have a dependable plumbing system.
  • Electronics
We installed an amazing B&G electronic navigation package. All NEMA 2000 networked together. From the chart plotter (a 12” B&G Zeus 3) to the radar (B&G 4g), to the autopilot (B&G controller to the new hydraulic autopilot motor), to the wind instruments, depth sounder, electronic compass, B&G VHF radio with AIS receiving (which you can see overlaid on the chartplotter). All brand new and installed in 2017 and working great! We also have an additional display for depth and speed inside the cabin. And you can read the instruments with built-in wi-fi right on your own smart phone or iPad. This is a great feature we really appreciated.
  • Fuel Polishing
Plumbed in system to polish fuel from one fuel tank to the other. Before fuel gets to the engine it is screened, then goes through a robust Racor filter and then the engine filter. Works great!
  • Rigging
We re-stepped the mast with a newly built mast step. Stainless rigging was inspected and looks good. New wire runs through the mast. New electronics on top of the mast.
  • Anchoring
Rocna 40kg (88 pound) main anchor. One of the best anchors available and it’s done a great job of holding in a variety of conditions and bottoms types. We also have three spare anchors, a couple hundred feet of G4 high test 3/8 chain and a Lofrans windlass with both up and down switches, a capstan and gypsy and backup manual winching.
  • Winches
We’ve got some great winches including the pair of Lewmar 70s that we recently serviced. All winches have been serviced in the past year.
  • Waiting for you…
We bought an ICOM M802 SSB radio with a pactor modem (a system that will allow you to send and receive email and weather reports through the SSB on your laptop). We bought this just before our last trip and haven’t yet installed it yet. We also bought a Spectra water maker (one of the best available) and we’ve mounted it but haven’t yet hooked it up. The Spectra Watermaker has never been used and we have spare parts and filters for it, too.

This sailboat sleeps 6 in regular beds. It will sleep 10 or more in a pinch. And a couple can sail it themselves. We refitted this boat to sail the world. We’ve been fortunate enough to have a new project that will take all our time for the next few years but that means we won’t have time to sail. If you want a strong sailboat with some cosmetic work to do but nearly all the heavy boat refitting work done already, this is the boat for you. And if you’ve been considering a smaller sailboat you’re going to love all the space on this boat. For live-aboard cruising there’s space for you and guests or crew. Space to charter if you desire. And ready to go anywhere you want.
