Replacing Chainplates on an Endeaovur 35

15–18 years ago I refitted my chainplates. This was prompted by the failure of the starboard chain plate due to rot. Mumkin is my 1983 Endeavour 35. The chain plate let go in a puffy 30–35 knot blow . . . closehaul. I felt a bump of sorts and then noticed the mast was off center a bit, but the DECK had prevented complete failure and loss of the mast because the chainplate was still below deck.

My yard suggested replacing the port one which as I recall was backed by a relative thin bulkhead /structure. The accident did reflect favorably on the strength of the deck. Sorry I cannot offer more details.
